Greenstreet, a Nkrumah Incarnate – Prof. Delle

The National Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Professor Edmund Delle, has described the party’s 2016 flag bearer, Mr Ivor Kobina Greentsreet, as “the young Nkrumah who has come and will lead the CPP to victory in this year’s election.

According to Prof. Delle, “since Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah never fails and dies, Greenstreet will never fail Ghanaians.”

In celebratory remarks on the ocassion of the 50th birthday of Mr Greenstreet in Accra last Wednesday, Prof. Delle expressed optimism in the CPP winning this year’s election. Incidentally, this year also marks the 50 years of the ousting of Dr Nkrumah, the first President of the country.

He declared that “the CPP, in prosecuting its 2016 electoral agenda, will campaign in the streets, we shall campaign on top of trees, we shall go to heaven and yell that the CPP is back.”

The CPP chairman also assured the gathering that the CPP would do everything within its capacity, including campaigning in the nooks and crannies of the country, to ensure that it annexes the seat of government in this year’s polls, stressing, “the CPP will either be the first or with the first at the end of the election”.

New covenant

Mr Greenstreet said the National Campaign message of the CPP was focused on a New Covenant (Apam Fofro) with the people of Ghana.

He stated that Ghanaians had become disappointed with politicians and that the rejuvenation of the CPP represented a departure from the politics of the past.

He said the CPP stood for hope, justice, progress, truth, discipline and loyalty to offer opportunity to the people of Ghana.

Mr Greenstreet earlier spoke of his joy at reaching half a century and gave thanks to the Almighty and all those who had supported him in his life’s journey.

Other speeches

The talk of the night was the eulogy of Mr Greenstreet’s mother, Professor Miranda Greenstreet, who stated that she was very proud of her son’s present position as the flag bearer of the CPP .

She made it clear, as a lead domestic observer of Ghanaian elections, that she would remain committed to that cause.

A cross-section of the cream of the Ghanaian society, from Mr Greenstreet’s Ga Mashie family, Professors and other academics from the University of Ghana, Legon, priests from the Christ Anglican Church of Legon gathered in Accra to mark the birthday of Mr Greenstreet.

There were also a delegation from his party, his legal profession colleagues, friends from the media and the people living with disability. Ben Jerry Telfer and Okyerema Kontoh provided soothing music on Kora and Kete drum.
